One of the last missing pieces in the 2014 Jeep Cherokee puzzle has been revealed. Pricing on the all-new compact SUV has been announced, and the entry-level Sport 4x2 model will start at $23,990, including $995 destination. This undercuts a 2WD Toyota RAV4 by $155 and is $365 more than a 2WD Honda CR-V, two of the models it will face off against when it hits showrooms. That's also $395 more than the starting MSRP on a 2014 Ford Escape S 2WD.

But the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Sport will come well equipped with a 5-inch UConnect touchscreen head unit with standard Bluetooth calling and streaming audio, a 3.5-inch TFT center cluster display, 10 airbags, full LED taillights and running lights, projector-beam headlights, electric parking brake, cruise control, and keyless entry. Options on the Sport include Active Drive I 4x4, satellite radio, rearview camera, 17-inch alloy wheels, engine block heater, and cold weather and trailer-tow packages. All Sport models are equipped with the 2.4-liter Tigershark I-4 with 184 hp an 171 lb-ft of torque.

Stepping up to the Latitude model adds body-color outside mirrors, foglights, leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED ambient interior lighting, standard 17-inch alloy wheels, and a 115-volt AC outlet. The Latitude model also offers available V-6 power with Chrysler's new 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6 with 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque and the choice of Active Drive I or Active Drive II with a low-range ratio. The 8.4-inch UConnect touchscreen radio with optional navigation is also available starting on the Latitude trim, and a 506-watt, nine-speaker Alpine audio system is also available.

The Limited trim adds standard heated leather seats with eight-way power driver's adjustment, heated steering wheel, keyless and remote start, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, and rearview camera. Options include the UConnect 8.4-inch touchscreen radio with navigation, a wireless mobile phone charging pad, the aforementioned Alpine premium audio system, and a CommandView dual-pane panoramic sunroof.

Potentially of greatest interest to Jeep enthusiasts, the off-road-oriented Trailhawk model offers standard low-range 4x4 with a locking rear differential, unique front and rear fascias to increase approach and departure angles, a 1-inch-higher ride height, heavy-duty engine cooling and auxiliary transmission cooler, hill ascent and descent control, unique 17-inch alloy wheels with OWL all-terrain tires, a full-size spare tire, unique cloth and leather upholstery, and 8.4-inch touchscreen radio. The Trailhawk also has an optional Skyslider open-air canvas sunroof.
