General Motors is recalling 193,652 2006 and 2007 model year Chevrolet Trailblazer and GMC Envoy SUVs for a potential water leak in the driver-side door that could cause a short in the right-side electrical panel module. The recall also affects the Buick Rainier, Saab 9-7x , and Isuzu Ascender SUVs.

Owners are advised to park their vehicles outdoors until the module can be inspected or replaced by a dealership, as the issue poses a potential fire hazard.

The Problem:
The driver-side door switch panel could malfunction if fluid leaks into the module. This could cause intermittent or non-operation of the power door lock and power window switches. An electrical short could result in odor, smoke, or fire.

The Fix:
GM will contact affected owners, and electrical modules will be inspected and a protective coating applied to properly functioning modules. Defective modules will be replaced. Chevrolet owners can call 866-694-6546, Buick owners can call 800-521-7300, GMC owners 866-996-9463, Isuzu 800-255-6727, and Saab 855-880-0808. Owners can also call NHTSA's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected:
Some 193,652 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, EXT, GMC Envoy and XL, and Buick Rainier, Saab 9-7x, and Isuzu Ascender SUVs. The recall is an expansion of the previous recall 12V-406.
