The Ford Atlas Concept is believed to be a fairly accurate preview of what the 2015 Ford F-150 will look like. If Ford's past truck "concepts" are any indication, it's likely to be a virtual clone, minus some of the bling of the show truck.
Graphic artist David Kiss, a staff artist for automotive blog TopSpeed.com
, combined some of the styling elements of the Atlas concept, along with recent spy photos of the 2015 model being tested , and came up with a shockingly realistic rendering of what the 2015 F-150 may look like.
The Atlas' Super Duty-inspired grille and hood are present, but the "chunkiness" of the Atlas' styling is toned down slightly for the production model. However, the window-sill dip, a hallmark of the current F-series trucks, and also featured on the Atlas concept, remains. The rendering also realistically includes conventional sidesteps, likely to be common on bread-and-butter XLT models, as opposed to the more expensive power retracting sidesteps offered on the more upscale Limited and Platinum trims.
In terms of what's under the hood, we don't expect many radical changes, but there's a strong likelihood the thirsty 411-hp, 6.2-liter V-8, at least in its current form, won't carry over. Bet on an EcoBoost V-6, and probably an updated 5.0-liter DOHC V-8, in addition to the standard 3.7-liter V-6 being among the powertrain offerings.
