Eco boost is rated 1 mpg off the new GM engine, GM more then loses that advantage with heavy oil consumption (check tsb's). No V8 gas engine in any pickup truck today comes anywhere close to the amazing low RPM torque of the Eco boost. If I'm pulling my 10,000 lb trailer I take 70mph at 2000 rpm any day over GM s 4100 rpm. Real trucks make big torque at low rpm.

As some are saying on other sites, those that don't want the Ecoboost may be out of luck. Ford is scrambling to get a fix for the moisture problem (they say a month), but to pay extra for a 6 cylinder that doesn't get as good mpg as GM's new V8s, plus the potential problems down the road, and Car and Driver's recommendation to only get the 5.0 V8 for towing in the truck, would make me think twice about getting it. Of course, I don't tow, so the engine might be OK.
