The 2014 Toyota Highlander, with new styling and a roomier-than-ever third row, makes for a compelling family car for Mom and Dad, but is probably of minimal interest to young Bobby and Susie. In a quest to appeal to the non-driving demographic, Nickelodeon and Toyota have teamed up to create a SpongeBob SquarePants-themed 2014 Toyota Highlander to promote the joint "Happy Driving" campaign. The exterior gets a brightly colored exterior featuring the likeness of the animated sea sponge, and the interior gets bright-yellow custom upholstery with embroidery on the headrests of the main characters of the series, SpongeBob, Squidward, Sandy, Plankton, Gary, and Mr. Krabs.

The headliner is an ocean blue color with airbrushed light refractions for the immersive "under the sea" feel. If you want to get an up-close look at the SpongeBob Highlander, the colorful SUV will be going on an across-the-country tour with stops in Orlando, Baltimore, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Los Angeles. Along with the vehicle, the promotional stops will include branded "premiums" such as airbrush temporary tattoos and an interactive area where kids can product animated SpongeBob GIFs to share with friends.

Now through November, fans can go to a dedicated page on the collaboration on the Nickelodeon web site featuring a "making of" video, and other interactive games and features.
