Earlier this month, we showed you "Strong," the first nationwide commercial spot for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Continuing its rollout of ads for the new truck, Chevrolet does a spot to appeal to the cowgirls out there. "Her Horse" is a short thematic ad showing a woman horse enthusiast getting up in the early hours to load up her truck and trailer with her horse, on her way to a barrel-racing competition.
Of course, what good would an ad be if it didn't spell out some of the attributes of the product? To that end, "355 horses to get there" is called out, as well as the Silverado 1500's claimed class-leading towing capacity. The trailer cargo is referred to as "her 1200-pound passenger," which, even with a 2000-pound trailer, isn't even stressing the 2014 Silverado's 11,500-pound maximum towing capacity.
While the musical score isn't a full-fledged country ballad as "Strong" was, the opening melody of that tune written by Will Hoge is played toward the end of the commercial, with soft piano music playing as thematic accompaniment for most of the spot. It seems Chevy is leaving no stone unturned in its appeal to key demographics. We're still waiting for the spot designed to appeal to urban cowboys. Perhaps a demo of MyLink, and rocking out to some tunes on Pandora?
