Honda U.K. has unveiled what very well could be the world's fastest lawn mower. Although it appears to be a normal grass cutter, this mean mower packs 109-hp, allowing it to reach an estimated 133 mph, which only means you'll get your chores done a lot faster. How much faster? The monster mower can reportedly go from 0-60 mph in four seconds.
With help from Honda U.K.'s British Touring Car Championship partner, Team Dynamics, the Japanese automaker re-engineered a Honda HF2620 Lawn Tractor, adding an all-new chassis, and a 1000cc engine taken from the Honda VTR Firestorm. The suspension and tires came from a Honda ATV, while the mean mower has also been outfitted with custom-made Cobra seats, a Scorpion exhaust system, and a steering rack taken from a Morris Minor British economy car. Weighing about 308 lbs, the mower's power is sent to the wheels via a custom-made six-speed gear system that also features paddle shifters.
Even with all the modifications, the mean mower still retains its original purpose thanks to two electric motors on the cutter deck, which spins the steel cutting cable at 4000 rpm, though we're not sure where it'll hold the grass since the fuel tank is located inside the grass bag. While it's capable of reaching an estimated 133 mph, it can only cut grass at 15 mph, twice the speed of the original (Honda says the mower reached speeds of at least 100 mph during recent tests).
In all, the mower is an interesting mix of Honda, British, and custom racing components and is one of the most intriguing creations to come from the Japanese company. Check out the mean mower with British Touring Car Champion Gordon Shedden at the helm in the video below.
