One of BMW's best sellers in the U.S., and a major player in the luxury SUV segment, the 2014 BMW X5
configurator just launched on BMW's U.S. site, for all the gasoline 2014 models. The X5 xDrive35d is still shown as the current 2013 model. The 2014 xDrive35d will go on sale after the gas-powered sDrive35i, xDrive35i and V-8-powered xDrive50i models.
The X5 has never exactly been a bargain-basement model, and the 2014 is no exception. Getting click-happy with the configurator, we were able to ring up a $91,675 tab on an xDrive50i with the M Sport package, and a variety of four-figure options, including the Driver Assistance Plus, Night Vision, Rear Seat Entertainment, Executive and Active Steering option packages. The 2014 X5 xDrive50i starts at $69,125, including $925 destination.
But don't think your wallet's immune from taking a hit by selecting the newly available rear-drive sDrive35i model. Getting similarly self-indulgent with the configurator, we were able to raise the total just shy of $30,000 in options to $82,525 from a starting point of $53,725.
Keep in mind this doesn't include the almost inevitable X5 M variant on the horizon. The 2013 BMW X5 M
starts at $89,775, including $925 destination, and can easily top $100,000 with options.
