Honda CR-V sales soared ahead of the Ford Escape and Toyota RAV4 in July, and in terms of pricing, not much changes with the CR-V for the 2014 model year. Prices for the 2014 Honda CR-V compact crossover have increased by $150 across the line, meaning a base-model front-drive 2014 CR-V LX will go for $23,775 including destination while a top-of-the-line all-wheel-drive 2014 CR-V EX-L with a navigation system will be priced at $31,275.

As with the 2013 CR-V, all-wheel drive remains a $1250 option on all trim levels. All 2014 Honda CR-Vs get a five-speed automatic and 185-hp 2.4-liter I-4. The $23,775 CR-V LX includes Bluetooth, a rearview camera, Hill Start Assist, four-speaker sound system, Pandora capability with an auxiliary input jack, and 16-inch steel wheels. The most 2014 Honda CR-V trim is expected to be the $25,875 EX, which adds a six-speaker sound system, moonroof, foglights, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Spend an extra $2650 and the 2014 CR-V EX-L will get you leather seats, a 10-way power driver seat, heated front seats, 328-watt seven-speaker sound system, satellite radio, roof rails, and dual-zone automatic climate control. At the top end of the 2014 CR-V lineup are two models, the EX-L with a rear-seat entertainment system at $29,225 while a CR-V with a navigation system will now cost $30,025 in front-drive form.

In a 2012 comparison, the Honda CR-V placed third out of five crossovers. We weren't thrilled with the way the CR-V drove, but were impressed by the low cargo loading height and the one-pull folding rear seats. For those who don't need the space or aren't interested in paying $25,000 for a crossover, Honda may soon add a Fit-based crossover in the U.S. lineup. When that happens, don't be surprised to see a refreshed CR-V arrive, possibly with an Earth Dreams engine or CVT.
