Ram has released two teaser photos of a performance pickup truck concept that it will be revealing at the 2013 Woodward Dream Cruise. We're 100 percent certain it will be based on a Ram 1500 and have an eight-speed transmission. We're almost as certain it will be Hemi-powered and have an assertive exhaust note. There's also a good chance it may be called the Ram Rumble Bee Concept, based on the text displayed near the rotary-knob shifter and the cool backlit honeycomb pattern on the knob and the bee inside it.
The main question remains whether it will have the 5.7-liter Hemi or mighty 6.4 high-output V-8 under the hood. We're betting (and hoping) on the latter. We're thinking it will be a more fully formed manifestation of the Ram 392 Quick Silver concept we drove last year. We loved the idea of the Quick Silver, but its execution was, by Ram's own admission, a little unfinished. Another key difference from the Quick Silver is the addition of the TorqueFlite 8 transmission, which promises even better performance than the six-speed of the Quick Silver.
Finally, Chrysler has a better track record than most manufacturers of bringing its "concepts" to the showroom. Could the Ram Rumble Bee be rumbling into showrooms soon? Who knows, but initial indications look promising. Check back later this week for more details on Ram's attitude-packed pickup concept.
