The Lexus "spindle" grille, which debuted on the 2013 GS 350, is now becoming a signature styling element on all Lexus car and SUV models, and the latest model to get the styling enhancement is the 2014 Lexus GX 460 SUV. Mechanical changes to Lexus' mid-level SUV are minimal, but equipment and pricing changes are significant.
The base price on the 2014 model drops to $49,995, yet still gets some worthwhile upgrades. The previously standard 4.2-inch display screen has been replaced across the board with an 8-inch touchscreen audio display, standard HD Radio, Bluetooth with automatic phone book transfer, and complimentary HD Radio traffic and weather information.
The 2014 Premium Package comes in at the same price as the base 2013 and adds a navigation system with backup camera, perforated leather trimmed interior, heated and ventilated front seats, heated outboard rear seats, park assist, and three-zone climate control.
The new topline Luxury trim adds adaptable air suspension, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and 18-inch split-spoke alloy wheels. Both the Premium and Luxury-trim models feature Mahogany wood trim.
The Luxury trim model starts at $61,625, including $910 destination. All 2014 GX 460 models feature full-time four-wheel drive with a selectable low range.
