Trucks are all about capability, and usually that means towing and payload. But did you know that the 2013 Toyota Tacoma is equally up to the task of facing an overly emotional girlfriend, the Grim Reaper, or a mime? Neither did we, but Toyota is nonetheless informing us of the Tacoma's unique capabilities in a series of short, one-minute YouTube videos.
In the first scenario, a drama-queen girlfriend vents her frustrations about her friend insulting her fitness level and saying how much people love her couscous recipe in the front seat of her boyfriend's truck, producing an unusually copious volume of tears in the process, which fall on the seats and floormats. But the Tacoma's water-resistant seats and available all-weather floormats catch the flood of tears without incident.
In another scenario, the Tacoma plays chess with the Grim Reaper, and unbeknown to its life-robbing nemesis, is reading a book on how to play chess with its tailgate-mounted rearview camera. Upon his defeat, the hooded foe vaporizes in a cloud of smoke.
In the third scenario, a mime attempts to impress a little girl with his impromptu solo theatrical skills, and pretends to pull on a rope, but instead, gets pulled down the street by a virtual rope with the Tacoma's 6500-pound towing capacity.
Last, a magician ties himself down in the Tacoma's bed, and easily uncuffs himself, but has a hard time escaping from the Tacoma's tie-downs.
Are these spots clever or just plain weird? Watch them below and judge for yourself.
