The Lexus RX crossover has been the brand's best-seller for many years, and incremental updates have kept it fresh in consumer's minds, including a F Sport model in 2013, which added an eight-speed transmission and paddle shifters. The drivetrain change last year didn't exactly transform the RX into a Porsche Cayenne rival overnight, but Lexus knows its customers are practical-minded, and the 2014 Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h
models add Siri Eyes Free mode for integrated operation with Apple iPhone 4S and later handsets.
The optional Siri Eyes Free system offers voice dialing of stored contacts, voice-actuated search and play of your iTunes playlist, and turn-by-turn navigation through Apple maps, among other features. The system will also read notifications and calendar information and lets drivers add reminders, calendar appointments, and notes by voice.
Other than the addition of Siri Eyes Free for 2014, the RX gets an optional precollision system on the front-drive model, which includes prebrake and forward collision warning. The Premium Package adds a sustainable Matte Bamboo trim for the black and parchment interior trims. The F Sport and Luxury packages also add a 115v AC electrical outlet for the rear-seat area.
The 2014 Lexus RX 350 starts at $40,670 for the front-drive model, and the RX 450h starts at $47,320, including $910 destination.
