Sean I know logistically they are better but that's it. They are under powered, small and have no blast deflection against IEDs. The main reason they still get used so much is the mass amount we have. When I was deployed the HMMWVs never left the wire with American troops in them.

Uparmored HMMWv,s not sure. But there is still a purpose to the hmmwv. It is much easier to transport and airlift hmmwvs than any stryker or MRAP. Logistically, this makes things much easier. The real purpose behind mraps and styikers is the ability to either transport troops safely on MSRs in theater. Or in the case of the stryker or a bradley, provide more firepower to cavalry units. HMMWVs are still very useful and a backbone of the army. Hope that helps.

So in a world of MATVs and Bradleys why are we wasting money on HMMWVS?
