If you own a 2013 Ram 1500 Equipped with the Pentastar V-6, eight-speed transmission and four-wheel drive, your truck could be subject to a recall for a faulty transmission output shaft. The recall affects a fairly small number of vehicles overall, and also includes AWD versions of the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger sedans.

The output shaft of the affected vehicles was manufactured using a two-stage forging method that resulted in some shafts being prone to fracturing. The manufacturing method has been replaced with a single-stage forging process that produces in a stronger piece.

An estimated 4194 vehicles in the U.S., 1424 in Canada and 45 vehicles outside of the NAFTA region are affected. Affected customers will receive notification in the mail on scheduling service appointments for repair or inspection of the shafts. Concerned customers can call 800-853-1403.
