We recently came across this ad on YouTube, and it immediately piqued our interest. This is different from some of the other Tundra ads we have seen, which focus more on kids and family and using a Tundra for getting landscaping and building projects done. This new ad seems to be a preview for some big news to come from Toyota. It has a lot more attitude than a typical Toyota ad.

After a stock 2014 Tundra pulls into a rural gas station, a red Tundra and Tacoma race down a nearby dirt road. But this Tundra isn’t stock: It has a unique black grille and black wheels, plus a “TRD Pro” badge on the tailgate. It also has a pretty sweet-sounding engine. (The Tacoma is only on screen for a moment or two, but we wonder if it’s a T|X Baja Series model, or if there is a new limited edition of the Tacoma coming to market.) One theory is that Toyota is considering introducing a TRD Pro model for the Tundra, which would align it with the T|X Baja Series Tacoma as a Baja-style truck like the Ford Raptor. Something like that probably wouldn’t be as extreme as the Raptor, but we could see it as a package that could come with Bilstein shocks, beadlock wheels, and a cat-back exhaust. We’ll let you know what we find out.
