They are an indisputable part of the canvas of Americana -- engine-forward, conventional-cab Class 8 trucks. And one of the most respected names in the heavy truck market is Peterbilt. To commemorate the brand's 75th anniversary, it is introducing a special-edition trim of its popular 579-series truck. The special-anniversary edition features several upgrades to differentiate it from a run-of-the-mill 579.
The most noticeable distinction is the signature red-and-white two-tone paint job featured on the original 1939 model truck, as well as the 50th anniversary edition trucks. The Diamond Red color was developed in conjunction with Axalta Coating Systems. In addition to the optional custom paint job, the 75th Anniversary Edition 579 features a bright exterior sunvisor, rearview mirror housings, and a chrome-finished steel bumper. Also included are 75th Anniversary emblems on the sides of the sleeper cab, a bright air-intake bezel on the side of the hood, and bright rocker panels. The truck also gets rear stainless-steel mudflaps hangers with the anniversary logo.
The interior features a sequentially numbered anniversary emblem on the dashboard, Blackwood trim accents, red steering-wheel stitching, and black leather seats with the anniversary logo stitched into the headrest. The 75th Anniversary edition 579 will appear at Peterbilt dealerships across the country.
