Automakers are collaborating closer and closer with entertainment franchises to preview their new models in video games and movies, and, in the case of Western Star trucks, you can't make a much bigger impact than one of the best-known anthropomorphic trucks on the silver screen: Optimus Prime. The most alpha character of the Transformers franchise will preview a new Western Star model set to hit American highways in fall 2014. But attendees going to the 2014 Mid-America Trucking Show get to see the new Optimus Prime before he makes his big screen and highway debut.

Western Star, a division of Daimler Trucks, was approached by the producers of "Transformers: Age of Extinction" about helping provide a truck character. The brand just happened to have a new model in the pipeline that would make for the perfect character. The new model will be badged the 5700 series when it debuts. The Optimus-Primed 5700 features an orange-flame paint job on top of blue, triple-pipe exhaust stacks, a power dome hood, and a chrome-plated front bumper.

Optimus Prime was previously represented by a Peterbilt 379, considered one of the most iconic "big rigs" on American roads.
