So you think your truck is fast? You've got a Ford Lightning, or even a Dodge Ram SRT10? That's nice. But all you hot shots can stand down, because Rigo Trevino's 1999 Chevrolet Silverado is seriously fast. How fast? How about an 8.07 quarter-mile at 178.45 miles per hour. And this is no fiberglass-bodied funny car. This is a door-slammer, stock-bodied 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. But that's about the only thing stock on this truck.

Let's talk about the star of the show, the engine. It's a LSX-block 427 cubic-inch V-8 pushing approximately 32 psi of boost, producing an estimated 1700 hp. The turbo is a massive 114-mm unit, fed directly through a circular inlet in the grille. But neither Trevino nor his truck are rookies in the race scene, with Trevino also holding the previous record with the same truck with an 8.40-second run.

On the day the video was recorded, Trevino continued to make successively faster runs, ultimately culminating in his 8.07 time. Could Trevino break into the sevens in the future? It's anyone's guess. On the last run of the day, the truck blew a head gasket, but with a few tweaks, Trevino could end up breaking his own record yet again.
