As part of its launch of the new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, the brand presented a series of thematic ad spots featuring the truck towing and hauling. Among them was "Her Horse," featuring a female in her 30s or 40s towing a horse trailer to a show and competing. At the start of Chevrolet's Super Bowl 2014 ad spot for the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD, it appears the ad will be similarly dramatic and serious.
The spot starts out with the familiar, "A man. A man and his truck" voiceover. But 15 seconds into the one-minute spot, the melody to Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing" starts to play, indicating a more humorous theme. The next line is, "A man, his truck, and a very eligible bachelor" with a closeup of the bull in his trailer. The theme continues, with the song playing in the background, until the bull is dropped off into a pen full of cows, with the narrator saying "Hello, ladies."
Super Bowl ads are all about being memorable, and while we don't see "Romance" as having quite the same impact as Ram's "Farmer" ad, it will likely do its job of getting people talking about it.
