GM Announces Prices For Silverado and Sierra Pickups

Even base models, like the Silverado LS or Sierra SLE, are equipped with standard items such as power windows and door locks; individual dual-zone (driver and passenger) manual climate control; cruise control; uplevel custom cloth split bench seats; remote keyless entry; AM/FM stereo with CD; outside power, heated, folding mirrors; deep tinted glass; electric rear window defogger; electrochromic inside rearview mirror; a leather-wrapped steering wheel; full carpeting; painted cast aluminum 16-inch wheels on two-wheel-drive and 17-inch polished cast aluminum on four-wheel-drive models; and four-wheel ABS disc brakes.

Four-wheel-drive models have a standard AutoTrac, which requires no driver intervention to adjust between two- and four-wheel-drive traction requirements.

Silverado LS and Sierra SLE Crew Cabs offer six-way power bucket seats in either cloth or leather, and premium Bose sound is standard with the uplevel sound systems on either of these bucket seats. Silverado LT and SLT models have standard, segment-exclusive 10-way power leather, heated bucket seats and premium Bose sound. A rear-seat entertainment system, with DVD player, LDC display and wireless headphones is also available the Crew Cabs ($1,295).

Among their options, LS and SLE models offer the segment-exclusive safety and security of OnStar service ($695, standard on LT and SLT models); an upgrade to the exclusive XM Satellite Radio package (continental U.S. only, $325 all models); and a locking rear differential ($295 on all models, except Chevrolet's Z71 where it is standard). The locking rear differential provides better traction to all four wheels under certain operating conditions than competitors' limited slip differential.

Half-ton Crew Cabs go into production at General Motors' Oshawa, Ontario, Canada plant in January 2004.

MSRPs for the new models by trim series are:
Chevrolet Silverado 2WD Crew Cab LS: $31,145
Chevrolet Silverado 2WD Crew Cab LT: $35,148
Chevrolet Silverado 4WD Crew Cab LS: $34,525
Chevrolet Silverado 4WD Crew Cab LT: $38,528
Chevrolet Silverado 4WD Crew Cab Z71: $35,040
