While it appears many state governments are now starting to relax some of their shelter-at-home recommendations that were brought forth at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, car and truck "guys" (a term of endearment for ladies in this group) continue to find refuge and solace in their garages and shops; they remain places where they can get away and be safe, while being in their happy place.

Welcome to the "(Work) Shop"

In this installment of our social-shelter series, Diesel Power Editor KJ Jones welcomes you into his "shop:" a 16'x10' building constructed behind KJ's home in 2003, which serves as his hangout. It was initially built to be an extension of sorts to the small garage we featured in an earlier report, where an engine could be assembled or other bench projects done, in air-conditioned comfort.
As you'll see in the photos and accompanying video, the shop, while still very functional as a getaway, has also become a center for accumulating all of the things that car guys tend to hold onto for years and years. In addition to a wall-to-wall work bench, there's Wi-Fi, stereo, TV and video, a laptop, and a mini refrigerator—every good shop has one of those. In addition to those amenities, there's also a ton of car and truck parts that are stored, (more) tools and nostalgic memorabilia from KJ's life as a car guy and drag racer (including a book that goes as far back as his childhood), as well a few other things.
Like the garage, however, and despite the space's small dimensions, it's a great place to smoke a cigar, drink a beer, and to be free of any COVID or other chaos for a few hours at least.

Let's See Your Shop Shelter

We're taking this message and instructions from our fourwheeler.com teammates: "We want to see how you shelter-in-shop. Send us a horizontal video of your space, approximately 60 seconds, and no longer than 4 minutes. Show us around! Tell us who you are and talk about some of the cool stuff that's going on in your work area, especially project vehicles.
To submit the video, we recommend using a file-transfer service such as WeTransfer. It's free to use. Follow the directions on the website, and send to dieselpower@motortrend.com. And while you are at it, take a few overall photos and any cool details (at least 2 pics, please—or as many as you like) and add them to the WeTransfer file."
