The BFGoodrich Tires Outstanding Trail program has been around since 2006, but the Dusy-Ershim OHV Trail lays claim to unique recognition -- It's the first off-road trail to win the award by a voting process, which included fans and enthusiasts. Trails are usually selected by BFGoodrich in partnership with Tread Lightly! And UFWDA.
The Four Wheel Drive Club of Fresno, California accepted the award this past weekend along with a $4,000 grant that "will be used to preserve the scenic trail and continue conservation efforts for one of America's most beautiful areas for off-roading," said BFGoodrich Tires in a prepared statement. The Dusy-Ershim OHV is a 33-mile trail located in the Sierra National Forest, reaching a maximum altitude of 10,200 feet. It's considered a highly-advanced trail, which includes scenic views of lakes, creeks, granite mountains, and meadows.
Since 2010, the program has recognized 24 off-road trails and 24 clubs, providing over $90,000 in grant money for preservation and maintenance.
