REVIEW

Winner: Ford F-150 SuperCrew
Runner-Up: Toyota Tundra CrewMax
This is the most varied (and largest) pickup-truck segment, making the choice of best in class one of the most difficult. We had to pick from compact, midsize, and full-size trucks, including some based on SUV platforms. To make a decision here, we followed the same rules as we do with our Truck of the Year event: We compare each candidate with the rest of its competitive set to see which does the best job. And this year, the Ford F-150 SuperCrew gets the nod. It still offers the best towing capacity, incredible versatility across the line, and top-notch interiors (with a flat floor in the SuperCrew's second row). Those who are shopping for a crew cab have so many choices here, it would be very easy to get the exact truck you need--and make sure it's the one you want, too, without breaking the bank. The Tundra CrewMax is a close second, as the new standard V-8 engine available for 2010 has more power and provides better fuel economy than the one it replaces.
Don't agree with our winner? Then tell us which vehicle would you have picked as the 2010 Best in Class Crew Cab Pickup, 2WD in the comment box below.

Road Test: 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
When OEs were falling over themselves to make four-door pickups, Ford took a different approach. Instead of reworking an existing compact pickup platform (in this case, the Ranger), Ford modified an SUV platform.

First Look: 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
Ford pioneered the four-door sport/utility truck in the 2001 model year with its Explorer Sport Trac, a V-6-only model based on the old-generation four-door Explorer. At the time, it looked like Ford had trumped Nissan, which showed its SUT concept a few years earlier.
