Spied! 2018 Lincoln Navigator in Golf Ball Camo Hits the Streets
Gullwing Doors Unlikely to Make Production Cut
Just last week, we brought you photos of what we believe to be a test mule for the 2018 Lincoln Navigator fullsize SUV. We now have a second mule making the rounds near Ford global headquarters in Dearborn. This model is more heavily cladded than the first one, as well as showing a slightly different styling direction. Last week’s shots had open glass all around and a door design more reminiscent of the Ford F-150. That mule also had vertical taillights from the current Expedition. This time around, the side profile looks definitely more Lincoln-like, dare we say somewhat similar to the Escalade, as well as what appear to be Lincoln’s signature horizontal taillights.
Mechanically, we expect both the new Navigator and Expedition to have the 3.5L EcoBoost V-6, most likely paired with the new 10-speed automatic. Body material is unknown. However, we’re inclined to think it will follow in the F-150’s footsteps with an aluminum body, especially based on spyshots from last year showing a strong F-150 influence in the front clip, if it is indeed indicative of the final product. There’s a good chance we will see the production versions of either the Expedition or Navigator at the upcoming Los Angeles or Detroit Auto Shows.
