2018 Nissan Titan Extended Cab Spied!

Third and Final Cab Variant Coming Soon

Nissan has taken a gradual approach to rolling out the different variations of its Titan and Titan XD fullsize pickups. First to come was the Cummins-powered Titan XD, followed by the gas-powered XD, then the 1/2-ton Titan, and then the regular cab variants of the Titan and XD. Now, we have the third and final cab variation that we expect from Nissan for the Titan family: the extended or, in traditional Nissan parlance, the “King Cab.”
To simplify manufacturing logistics, it’s important to note than not every bed configuration is available with every cab configuration. For instance, you can’t get a true 8-foot long bed with a crew cab on any model. It also appears for the 1/2-ton Titan model that all the cab configurations share the same 139.8-inch wheelbase, meaning the crew cab gets a 5-foot 7-inch bed, the regular cab gets an 8-foot bed, and the extended cab will get something in between, likely around 6-foot 5-inches if current segment convention is anything to go by.
The extended cab model could also see the debut of the promised V-6 option. Although the 5.6L Endurance V-8 is expected to comprise the majority of both Titan and Titan XD sales, a V-6 option will attract price-conscious buyers. Prevailing thought is that it will be a version of the 4.0L VQ V-6 currently used in the Frontier, possibly updated with direct fuel injection. The 3.5L V-6 is also a possibility, but we’re leaning toward the 4.0 for its higher torque output. We may see the production version at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.
