Spied! 2014 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab

GM's New Midsizers Stretch Definition of Term

Edward A. SanchezJan 22, 2013
Truck headlines recently have been focused on the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra as well as the Ford Atlas concept that previews the 2015 F-150. With the Detroit Auto Show in the rear-view mirror, we get another look at GM's other upcoming truck, the midsize 2014 Chevrolet Colorado.

Based on these latest spyshots, the new Colorado and its GMC Canyon sibling may stretch the definition of "midsize," especially in the crew cab/long bed configuration this tester appears to be in. The combination will be a first for the U.S.-market Colorado, as the previous Colorado and Canyon only offered a 61.1-inch bed with the crew-cab.
Engine options for the new trucks remain unknown, but a gasoline four-cylinder and V-6 are believed to be among the offerings. The V-6 will likely be either the high-feature 3.6-liter DOHC direct-injection V-6, or the just-announced 4.3-liter OHV direct-injected EcoTec3 V-6 that will serve as the base engine in the 2014 Silverado and Sierra. An intriguing, but unconfirmed potential third engine option is the 2.8-liter four-cylinder Duramax turbodiesel offered in the global market Colorado that produces 177 hp and a stout 347 lb-ft of torque.
