Another curvy compact crossover will soon join the Nissan Juke, as the Japanese automaker is readying the Extrem concept to show off to Brazilian audiences. Designed specifically with the Brazilian market in mind, the Extrem is built on Nissan's compact V-platform and boasts design language that approaches the level of radicalness set by the Juke.

Not surprisingly, the concept is aimed at young car enthusiasts looking to stand out on the road. Nissan says the affordable cars available in Brazil are often conservatively styled, which is why the company wanted to craft a lightweight two-door crossover with a design inspired by Brazil. Nissan stresses that the Extrem is strictly a concept car, and that it has no immediate plans to produce the crossover. However, elements of the concept's design may hint at future Nissan products for Brazil and other markets. Compared to the Nissan Juke, the Extrem concept is about 11 inches shorter, equal in width, and 0.4 inches shorter in height.

For propulsion, the Extrem uses the same turbocharged 1.6-liter I-4 of the Nissan Juke, while its platform is shared with other Nissan compacts like the Versa and March/Micra. Unlike those vehicles, the Extrem concept enjoys exotic styling elements like wraparound glass, floating roof rails, a transparent A-pillar, and detached C-pillar. Mounted in the center of the rear aluminum skid plate is an ovular exhaust, which along with the turbine-shaped 19-inch alloy wheels, adds to the crossover's bold design. Inside, the Extrem gets a two-tier cargo area with a removable bin intended to hide items from sight.

The Nissan Extrem makes its public debut at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show on October 24.
