Another look at building the ideal people-mover is the Fairlane, a six-passenger, three-row vehicle. Its focus is on interior amenities, space, and comfort, with an upscale design. Ford used materials such as oak and maple bentwood, leather, woven rattan, and canvas. An innovative touch is the rear door, which serves as a rolling galley. It features a flip-down utility area with utensils, a cutting area, and fridge, possibly making this the best tailgate vehicle ever. Powered by a 3.0-liter V-6, the Fairlane shares its platform with the 2006 Ford Fusion; this is a platform that'll eventually be used for up to 10 vehicles in North America.
