Mercedes has been testing its next-generation, 2013 Mercedes GL-Class prototype. Code-named X166, the GL will be built on a stretched version of the new M-Class platform. It will feature LED daytime running lights on the bumper and compact light clusters for the rear taillights. Engines will likely still be shared with the M-Class, with the 3.0-liter diesel and the 5.5-liter gasoline engine all coupled to the brand's 7G-Tronic seven-speed transmission. We hear this new GL may not go on sale until early 2012, which should make it a 2013 model-year vehicle.
