Spotted trolling around the Nurburgring was this Mercedes-Benz ML prototype. From what the pictures are showing, this could be AMG's rendition of the SUV slated to go on sale in mid-2011, or at least one equipped with a sport package. Why do we say that? Have a look at those beefier side skirts, cross-drilled brake discs, and 20-inch wheels.
Unfortunately, the camouflage doesn't give much of any design details away, but we do know that its compact front and rear ends will be completely retouched. Its nose is more upright in order to accommodate new European pedestrian crash standards and houses new headlights adorned with LEDs. The double bar grille as seen on the GLK and GL makes its way onto the ML as well.
Rumors persist that Mercedes will outfit the ML with a 2.2-liter I-4 (204 hp), V-6 diesel (225 hp), V-6 gasoline (333 hp), and a 570-horsepower AMG twin-turbo (V-6 or V-8). As of now, it's all speculation, but when we get more details on this luxo SUV, you'll be the first to know.
