Best Truck Bed Organizers
Recommended cargo-management accessories for new and old pickups.
Figuratively speaking, there are thousands of different upgrades that can be performed on pickup trucks, new or old. Enhancing their utilitarian mettle is something we always cosign, and there's no better place to start than in a rig's bed.
To haul cargo as efficiently as possible essentially is the reason why trucks have beds. As we noted in a recent report, truck beds come in different sizes to support payloads of varying weights and dimensions.
Ensuring the bed's contents are loaded or stored in an organized manner is important, and there are many permanent and removable boxes and such available to help keep items in place, safe, and easily accessible—organized, if you will—inside a truck's bed.
When it comes to determining the best truck bed organizers, it's impossible to place a definitive rank on any of them without properly evaluating each one. There are many different styles, and selecting the best one for your rig largely depends on its compatibility with the truck, as well as whether it meets your specific needs and is within your budget.
Here are a few examples of different truck bed organizers that we think are worth considering.
Truck Bed Organizers
The Truck Show Podcast's associate sponsor offers what arguably are the most detailed, comprehensive truck bed organizers in the space. DECKED's storage compartments keep tools and other gear safe and intact in the bed and will also support a payloads of up to 2,000 pounds on its flat surface. A permanent option that fitted to a bed per a truck's make/model/year DNA, this system requires no drilling for installation.
For applications that don't require a proverbial ton of space, a side-mount carryall like the Undercover Swing Case Truck Tool Box might be perfect for your rig. The box mounts to a bedside (available for right or left) and, when released, swings 180 degrees into an accessible position above a lowered tailgate. This toolbox organizer holds 75 pounds and also can be removed from the bed to carry anywhere.
The BedXTender is a dual-use product. First and foremost, it's a bed extender. However, when the tubular device is installed backwards, it breaks bed space out into two separate areas.
Trunk Crate Pro
TCP's Multi-Compartment Collapsible Portable Trunk Organizer theoretically is designed for car trunks and SUV cargo spaces, not pickup beds. However, despite this, the system gets an acknowledgement in our group. The big bag is durable and extremely versatile and can be configured many different ways for optimum storage capacity and separation/isolation of items. It's skid resistant and can be secured using stock anchor points inside a truck's bed.
The simplest of truck bed organizers, this bar adjusts to span between 40 and 70 inches, covering interior-width distances in pickup beds, trailers, etc. The bar is adjusted using a ratcheting handle and is sturdy enough to keep (it's actually called "The Keeper") lighter cargo in place. Large pads are included at each end of the bar to enhance grip and protect the bed's finish from scratches and damage.
