Dometic CCF-T Ford F-150 Console Fridge Install and Review

Easy install adds refrigerated space to your Ford F-150’s center console.

Feb 27, 2021
Dometic, one of the leaders in vehicle fridges, just released the new CCF-T drop-in console fridge for the popular 2015-2020 Ford F-150 and 2018-current Ford Expedition. (You know Dometic from its exceptional line of overlanding fridges or the refrigerator in your RV.) This is a similar unit to the ones you can add from the factory to your Bentley Bentayga, Cadillac Escalade, Toyota Sienna, or one of several Land Rover products. Even Jeep's Grand Wagoneer concept features the fridge.
The Dometic CCF-T, which uses true compressor technology, has 9 liters of capacity and holds 12 cans or six tall 20-ounce bottles, which can be completely cooled to 41 degrees in about two hours. The nearly silent compressor runs when the vehicle is running (a switch on the unit turns it off if cooling is not desired) or until it senses the battery voltage has reached 12 volts, in which case it will automatically shut off, turning back on when the vehicle is started. Generous insulation around the unit can keep temps cool long after the fridge has turned off. In addition to fridge functionality, the unit adds LED interior lighting and a pair of USB-A outlets that are easily accessible on the front.
With lots of trips to the desert in our 2020 Ford Raptor, we thought it would be the perfect candidate to add some refrigerated capability for our drinks and food. Fortunately, the Dometic CCF-T install is extremely simple, thanks to an integrated power supply that doesn't require any wire splicing. A single hole does need to be drilled in the wall of the center console to accommodate the exhaust fan.
Overall, we are incredibly impressed with the Dometic CCF-T fridge's fit and finish, build quality, and quiet operation. Dometic worked hard to ensure very tight tolerances, and all of the components are of a very high quality. This is one of the products that is a joy to use in everyday life, and it just plain works as advertised.
Installation only takes about 30 minutes, and retail pricing for the CCF-T is $799. More information on the CCF-T can be found at dometic.com.

Photo 3/17   |   Ford's F-150 has a voluminous center console that is the perfect location for a fridge.
Photo 4/17   |   After emptying the console, we marked the location of the exhaust fan by using the supplied template.
Photo 5/17   |   Once we marked the center of our opening, we drilled a pilot hole and enlarged it with a hole saw to accommodate the exhaust fan.
Photo 6/17   |   The opening for the exhaust fan sits just at the front of the console and out of the way.
Photo 7/17   |   Using a portable vacuum, we removed the plastic shavings from the inside of the console.
Photo 8/17   |   Next, we popped the exhaust fan into place. It has tabs to secure it, so we just pushed it in until we heard the "click." If you find that the fan fit is slightly loose, just wrap it a couple times with electrical tape.
Photo 9/17   |   To make installing the CCF-T unit easier, Dometic recommends taping the fan power wire out of the way.
Photo 10/17   |   Dometic provides these foam spacers to help center the fridge and give it a tight fit inside the console. We used electrical tape to help hold them in place.
Photo 11/17   |   To prep the console for installation, we plugged the fan wire into the unit and plugged the unit into the existing 12V power outlet inside the console.
Photo 12/17   |   With the fridge powered up, we confirm proper operation and dropped it into place, tucking the wires inside the console.
Photo 13/17   |   The final step was to install the exhaust trim plate into place to finish off the look and grab some warm drinks to test the fridge.
Photo 14/17   |   The Dometic CCF-T is the perfect complement to the Ford F-150's interior, especially if you have kids or find yourself on road trips. We've enjoyed having cold drinks at the ready on our adventures or just a place to put our lunch or leftovers from the restaurant. Once you have a Dometic console fridge at your disposal, you'll be amazed with how many new uses you will come up with.
