The annual show by the Specialty Equipment Market Association, known as SEMA, is the place to learn about the latest and greatest add-ons for performance vehicles. Since diesels have become so popular in recent years, products for oil-burners have been taking over the Las Vegas Convention Center floor. Theres no way we could fit all the diesel products inside this magazine, so here are some of our favorites that are all-new, won SEMA awards, or are just plain coolor all three in one.
Water Methanol Injection Kit Perfection
You can achieve gains of up to 70 hp by using the Comp-One Boost Cooler, according to the water-methanol injection professionals at Snow Performance. In addition to an instant increase in power and torque, the system will also cool your exhaust gas temperature and keep your engine and turbo system from overheating. Along with the jump in performance, this new water methanol injection kit comes with a dedicated injection computer so you can dial-in your exact needs for your truck’s performance setup.

Cummins Gold
This 2012 SEMA Award-winning product by BD Power is a stainless steel Cummins exhaust manifold that’s built to withstand temperatures up to 2,000 degrees without cracking. The design of the manifold uses more consistent port sizing to retain heat for spinning your turbo(s) and cools down quickly once the engine is stopped. The manifold is currently available for 12- and 24-valve 5.9L Cummins engines for model years ’89 to ’02. In addition to improved performance and durability, the stainless steel construction will add some underhood bling after the exhaust gas temperature turns the setup a bright gold color.

Orange Grabber
This dual-disc clutch for Cummins trucks is designed for double duty. It’s rated to handle up to 1,800 lb-ft of torque for weekend warriors who like to turn up the power on the dragstrip, and dyno. While it’s built to handle all that twist, the clutch is also designed to be easy on your left leg during daily driving by maintaining ease of control with a relatively normal pedal feel.

Pedal Power
If you’re sick of the electronic disconnect associated with modern accelerator pedals, then Sprint Booster has a solution for you. The company’s Direct Response system helps eliminate the drive-by-wire lag that has sadly become common for modern diesel engines. By replacing the factory pedal assembly, the Sprint Booster is capable of providing multiple levels of performance, which let you decide how aggressive your throttle response should be. By improving pedal input sensitivity, the designers say you will experience improvement to throttle sensitivity throughout the entire powerband, plus the upgrade is a plug-and-play system designed to install in just a few minutes.

Fifth Eye
The designers at Husky Liners came up with a SEMA Award-winning product by adding a modern upgrade to their classic fifth-wheel towing tailgate. They decided to give drivers the ability to take a better look at their trailer and cargo with a mount for the installation of a backup camera. The tailgate is also lockable, made in the U.S.A. using aircraft-grade aluminum, and has a flow-through design.

Get Loaded
This bed extension cargo carrier by Cari-Mor is a DOT-compliant platform that connects to your trailer hitch. When folded down, it sits level with a tailgate in the down position and lets you carry extra-long cargo—and more than will normally fit in your bed. Plus, it will lessen the load put on your tailgate. In addition to having folding side and rear guardrails, there are plenty of tie-down loops, and the makers promise enough capacity to carry as much payload as your truck or SUV’s specifications allow.

Captain Hook
Have you ever thought factory tow hooks don’t seem big enough for a heavy-duty recovery mission when your friends get stuck? If so, get a look at the gigantic trailer hitch-mounted Big Haas hook devised by the folks at Spyder Industries. Not only do the powdercoated hooks look aggressive and maniacal, but they come in both regular and extra-large sizes.

Jumbo Platform
Another SEMA Award winner is the Elephant Stand Swivel Hitch, which adds a large swing-out platform step to your truck that can handle up to 600 pounds. It also includes a trailer hitch and ball that are rated to handle trailers weighing as much as 6,000 pounds, while adding just 28 pounds to the weight of your diesel. When it’s not tucked under your truck’s bed, the 16x9.5-inch deep step swivels out far enough so you can step up into your truck with the tailgate down to make loading heavy cargo easier.

Totally Wired
This SEMA Award-winning product is designed to be a “simple, elegant solution” for attaching wiring to your tow rig. By fitting around your hitch receiver, the Easy Mount Electrical bracket provides a solid connection without the need for drilling or clamps. The steel body that holds the wiring connections is a lot more rugged than flimsy plastic frames and keeps the plugs accessible and out of harm’s way when your trailer is connected.

Air Support
The professionals at BDS Suspension have created a new helper air spring system for lifted trucks. Unlike an add-a-leaf or stiffer springs, these airbags are built to be mounted on top of the leaf springs so they can be used when extra support is needed. That way, when you are not carrying a heavy payload, the suspension can be aired down to retain full suspension travel, then be pumped back up the next time you have a heavy load to support.

Designer Dualies
American Force has introduced a new series of dualie wheels, which are designed to look great while outperforming stock rims. The wheel shown here is the Titan model and is a 6061 aluminum bolt-on wheel (no adapter needed) in the 19.5x6.5-inch size and is available with either a bright polished or black powder- coated finish. Along with the Titan, the other new designs are also engineered to increase payload, improve towing capacity, and extend tire life with the added bonus of improved looks.

If you want a tire that combines the off-road capability of a mud-terrain but has the on-road driveability of an all-terrain, Dick Cepek Tires and Wheels may have what you need. The Fun Country line of tires is a hybrid that’s designed to fit the needs of drivers who commute with their truck but like to play in the dirt and muck when they get the chance. Hornblasters is famous for building extra-loud aftermarket horns with designs that cover everything from old-fashioned, motor-driven “Ooogah” horns to those just like the ones used in fullsize trains. Fill ’Er Up
The SEMA Award-winning Fuel-Tool PT500 makes transferring fuel from your truck’s tank to another vehicle quick and easy. It can eliminate the need for carrying fuel containers or adding an auxiliary fuel tank if you can’t afford to give up that amount of space in your bed. By being able to transfer filtered fuel at a moment’s notice, you’ll be able to keep farm equipment, other work trucks, or generators constantly fueled.

Diesel Baggage
New, large-diameter airbag suspension systems are now being offered by Hellwig Products for Ford, GM, and Ram diesel trucks. The large volume of these air springs allows the big trucks to ride smoothly and handle predictably with less air pressure, which also means less wear and tear on your truck from on- or off-road vibrations. Even with the large diameters, the air springs can be used on numerous suspension lift sizes because they can extend all the way up to 14 inches.

What a Lightweight
Titan’s XXL 60-gallon auxiliary polyethylene diesel tank weighs just 51 pounds when empty, which is less than the fuel it’s meant to carry. That doesn’t mean it’s wimpy. In fact, it has all the features of a metal tank, but without the risk of corrosion or welds that can crack. The XXL tank is also sized to fit your pickup’s bed and fully baffled for consistent performance.

Keeping It Simple This new Hi-Lift jack accessory may be simple, but it got a SEMA Award for being a major improvement for one of the most popular off-road accessories available. You can say goodbye to carrying a piece of plywood or some other home- made solution for placing your jack on loose ground. The Off Road Base (ORB) provides a larger footprint for your Hi-Lift, providing stability in soft terrain, and its rugged construction easily supports the weight of a fullsize truck.
