Cobra Electronics has selected three products as its top trucker picks for 2009: the 7700 PRO GPS navigator and two CB radios.
The 7700 PRO GPS navigator was developed specifically for professional truckers. This navigator offers truck-specific points of interest, text-to-speech guidance with turn-by-turn spoken street names, and multi-route trip planning based on the truck’s height, width, and weight. The GPS utilizes data from the STAA National Highway Network and Access Roads, the National Bridge Inventory List, and the National HazMat Route Registry to provide the most efficient truck route available. A bright, 7-inch touch-screen display ensures drivers are constantly aware of what’s on the route.

The two Cobra CB radios identified as tops for 2009 are the 29 WX NW BT and 29 LTD ARMY. The limited edition 29 LTD ARMY is co-branded with the U.S. Army and based on the best-selling CB radio of all time, the 29 LTD. Renowned for its reliability and performance, the 29 LTD ARMY is equipped with all the classic features: 40 channels, 4 watts of power, a front panel microphone connector, a 9-foot microphone cord, tactile controls, and an analog signal strength meter with SWR calibration. U.S. Army logos on the radio and microphone differentiate the limited model from standard 29 LTDs.

While the 29 LTD ARMY remains a throwback to the simple CB radio, the new 29 WX NW BT lives for the future. Packed with Bluetooth, NightWatch illumination, and NOAA weather alerts, this CB radio is available with a lot more features than the radios of yore. NightWatch illumination automatically adjusts the electroluminescent front panel based on ambient cabin lighting, while Emergency Alerts from the NOAA continually update drivers of severe weather, natural disasters, and Amber Alerts, even if the radio is shut off. Other implemented advancements include Delta Tune for incoming signals and adjustable Dynamike boost for improved voice clarity.
