Chevy Suburban and GMC Yukon XL Interior Protection

Five reasons to use Husky X-Act Contour Floor Liners to guard against kids, mud, spills, and mess

Although we're focusing on late-model GMC Yukon XL and Chevy Suburban because they're very common family vehicles (and because we happen to own one) the X-Act Contour Floor Liners we're talking about in this article are available for an enormous number of applications. Chances are good if you visit the Husky Liners website, you'll find your exact applications no matter what you drive.
Why go for interior protection on a brand-new vehicle? Don't you get floormats from the factory? Well, maybe. But even the best factory floormats leave a lot uncovered. Here are five reasons why we chose Husky's X-Act Contour Floor Liners to protect the interior of our GMC Yukon XL.

Factory Failures

The factory floormats are not only woefully small, but they're also made of mediocre material and offer no protection against liquid spills. It would almost be better to not run them at all were it not for the incredibly cheap quality of the factory carpet. In only a few short weeks, the bare carpet in the third row had started to lose fibers from kids' feet rubbing on it, and small balls of material had started to form. We can't imagine what an unprotected carpet would look like after a few years' worth of wear and tear. It's definitely a necessity to cover this up for the sake of longevity and resale value.

Perfect Fit

The Husky X-Act Contour Floor Liners are built to a higher standard. Not just cut out to mimic the same shape as your floor, the X-Act Contour do just that: They follow each curve, dip, rise, and turn. That way they are sure to not only lie flat but also provide the most coverage possible. The front liners cover an area extending from door sill to the center console and up to the firewall. The second-row liners extend forward under the front seat to best protect foot traffic. And, where applicable, the third-row liners feature cutouts for the flip-forward second-row seat brackets in the exact positions, so there's no need for extra cutting or tweaking of the liners.

Overlapping Protection from Spills

Photo 9/18   |   The third-row X-Act Contour Liners just overlay the second row in this application. That way any spills or debris will find their way to the second-row liner, not the carpet underneath.
For starters, the Husky X-Act Contour Floor Liners aren't flat. They've got deep channels with raised borders to contain accidental spills, mud, melting snow and ice, or whatever else you might have to deal with. If you do wind up with a mess, just pull over and either mop it up or carefully remove the liner with the liquid still contained and dump it out. Furthermore, in addition to providing complete coverage that extends from door sill to door sill, we found for our Yukon XL application the second- and third-row liners overlap, leaving no exposed carpet susceptible to wear and traffic. That's especially welcome in a vehicle like this where kids in grubby footwear will be climbing in and out of the third row day in and day out.

High Quality Materials

Some floor liners are constructed out of super-hard material that's slippery and uncomfortable underfoot. Others might be built out of very soft rubber that deforms and doesn't hold its shape. The Husky X-Act Contour Floor Liners are somewhere in between. The liners are firm enough that they maintain their shape and don't turn into a floppy tortilla when you're removing them to shake out dirt or pour out water. However, they're soft enough that they're comfortable under your feet. They also provide a good nonslip surface for rear passengers as they enter or exit. The underside of the liners features tiny gripping spikes that hold fast to the carpet and prevent the liners from sliding and slipping out of position. And both front liners either use the factory retaining pins or come with included retaining pins that you can quickly screw into your factory carpet to help hold in position.

Photo 15/18   |   The passenger-side front X-Act Contour Liner comes with a retaining pin to help secure that side. Note the studded underside, which grips the carpet nicely to prevent the liner from moving.
Photo 16/18   |   Insert the pin loosely into the bottom of the X-Act Contour Liner and position it in the floor, then remove the liner and screw the pin into the carpet.

Made in USA

Whenever given the option, we'll always go for a product that's made in the USA as opposed to one that's built cheaply overseas. The Husky Liners are built in the USA and feature Husky's lifetime guarantee, so if your American-made Husky liners at any time develop any issue, the company is gonna take care of you no questions asked. We like that almost as much as much as the fact Husky publishes a portion of the Pledge of Allegiance on its website. Well done, Husky!
Photo 18/18   |   Although Husky doesn't have an X-Act Contour Liner application for the cargo area of this vehicle, we selected the company's WeatherBeater liner, which is just a tad harder/firmer than the X-Act Contour Liner but protects just as well.

Bottom Line

The Husky X-Act Contour floormats are relatively affordable, are very high quality, offer superior fit/finish/function, and are made in the USA. For our money, that's a combo that's hard to beat.
