REVIEW

After taking a look at our recent minivan comparison, we hope you haven't forgotten about the Kia Sedona, which has received a handful of upgrades for the 2011 model year.
Photo 2/6
The Sedona is currently the sixth-best selling vehicle in the Kia stable and has finally been given the corporate tabbed front grille that has been making its way around the brand. With grille onboard, the minivan was also appointed with standard LED turn signals in the side mirrors and Bluetooth, new for 2011. Like the rest of the Korean lineup, LX and EX designate the two trim levels.
Unfortunately, our hope to see the first minivan with a forced-induction engine in more than a decade were dashed with the announcement that a new 3.5-liter V-6 has found its way into the engine bay. With 271 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque (up 27 horsepower and down 5 pound-feet from the outgoing 3.8-liter V-6), the figures are around where the direct-injected, turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four used in the 2011 Optima and Sportage are rated. On the flip side, a newly installed six-speed automatic transmission means it now has as many gears as most of the other entries in the minivan market. Fuel economy moves up a notch to 18 city and 25 highway mpg, up 1 city and 2 highway mpg.
Photo 3/6
With a Monroney starting at $25,390, the 2011 Sedona is $2400 more than the 2010 Base and $400 ahead of the 2010 LX models.
Lucky for Sedona owners, the minivan was recently named the cheapest 2010 model-year vehicle to insure in the United States by InsWeb. If you're in the market for an affordable minivan with low insurance rates, the Kia appears to be a more than suitable option.

Some Vehicles are so revered by their customers that replacing them presents a daunting task. Mazda's Miata, the original Chrysler minivans, and Ford's F-150 spring to mind--the Kia Sedona does not.
