2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser photo gallery: What's new for 2009

Photography by The Manufacturer

The 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser adds three new colors to its lineup for 2009: Black, Silver Fresco Metallic, and Iceberg (white). New safety features for the FJ Cruiser include roll-sensing side-curtain airbags and active headrests for the front seats. A cable-actuated mechanism in the front headrests helps minimize head movement during certain rear-end collisions. The roll-sensing side-curtain airbags can detect a potential rollover and signal the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) to reduce skidding, on top of being able to signal the standard seat-mounted side airbags and side curtain airbags to deploy.

The Toyota FJ Cruiser once again comes well-equipped with a standard 4.0-L V-6 engine making 239-hp and 278 lb-ft of torque. An extensive list of standard amenities and safety features, including 17-in. wheels, underbody skidplates, and Toyota's STAR Safety System (VSC, Traction Control, Antilock Brake System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, and Brake Assist), makes the FJ Cruiser an excellent buy for on- and off- the road.
