The 2009 GMC Yukon XFE puts all GM's best fuel-saving technology into an SUV package that does not compromise performance. With a combination of mechanical, aerodynamic, and mass-reducing enhancements, the Yukon XFE receives 5% better fuel economy on the highway, and 7% better in the city.
The XFE badge, which stands for Xtra Fuel Economy, mates the LC9 5.3L FlexFuel V-8 and Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed transmission with a 2WD package. The engine is rated at 320 hp and 340 lb-ft of torque. A rear axle equipped with a fuel-saving 3.08 ratio comes standard, along with lightweight 18-in. aluminum wheels and low rolling resistance tires. To help reduce mass, aluminum lower control arms are used, and the spare wheel is also made of aluminum.
Other unique features include a lowered suspension and revised chassis tuning for aerodynamic purposes, an automatic locking rear differential, and a trailer package.
