2009 Volvo XC90 Photo Gallery: What's new for 2009

For 2009, the Volvo XC90 will see the addition of new R-Design models, which are replacing the discontinued Sport V-8 model. Both the 3.2L I-6 and 4.4L V-8 will be available for the R-Design trim. The 3.2L I-6 delivers 235 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, while the V-8 puts out 311 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque.

The R-Design 3.2 will add R-Design tuned suspension, 19-in. Vulcanis diamond-cut alloy wheels, an R-Design front grille, leather seats with the R-Design logo on the front seats, an R-Design steering wheel, watch dial instruments, and floormats. The R-Design 4.4 will receive the same set of upgrades as the 3.2, with the additions of 20-in. Cratus alloy wheels in place of the Vulcanis wheels, along with a set of R-Design split dual exhaust pipes.

A new Convenience Package is available for all 2009 XC90s. The package includes Volvo's Blind Spot Information System, power-retractable rearview mirrors, rear park assist, Interior Air Quality System, and the enhanced Volvo Navigation System II with remote control and Real Time Traffic/ A new Technology Package will add dual Xenon active bending headlights with automatic level control, Sirius satellite radio and a 12-speaker Dynaudio premium sound system with rear seat headphone jacks and audio controls. The sound system includes a 6-CD changer, auxiliary input, MP3 capability, Dolby Pro-Logic II Surround Sound, and a 650-watt amplifier.

Another new package for 2009 will be the Executive Package. This package will be available only on XC90s with the V-8 engine, and will have late availability. The Executive package will include 19-in. Alastor alloy wheels, Executive soft leather seats, Executive floor and cargo mats, massage/ventilated front seats, Executive leather door panels and center console cover, Executive Classic wood inlays and steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, headlight washer, Rainsensor windshield wipers, and an Executive tailpipe.

Other items new for 2009 include 18-in. Camulus alloy wheels replacing the 17-in. Antaeus wheels on the 3.2, and a new Galateia 19-in. Wheel Package which includes 19-in. Galateia alloy wheels, speed-sensitive power steering, and body-colored fender extensions.

MSRP for the Volvo XC90 is expected to start at $37,825 for the 3.2, $42,275 for the 3.2 R-Design, $50,375 for the V-8, and $51,625 for the V-8 R-Design.
