What's New for 2010

New to Chevy's compact pickup truck are three exterior colors: Cardinal Red Metallic, Steel Green Metallic, and Sheer Silver Metallic. Safety was also a key focus with the inclusion of standard head curtain side airbags on all Colorado models.

The main, new feature is the availability of the 5.3-liter Vortec V-8 engine with 300 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. The V-8 is available as an option on extended and crew cab models, and comes standard with the ZQ8 sport suspension. The engine will only be paired with the Hydra-Matic 4L60 four-speed automatic transmission and offers a fuel economy of 15 city/21 highway with rear drive, and 14 city/19 highway with four-wheel-drive. Towing capacity is rated at 6000 pounds for all V-8 models.

It surprises me that the V8 doesn't get any better mpg than it does in this lighter pickup.  I avg. 18 mpg in a 2004 Z71 Crew cab with a similar engine and it weighs considerably more.  I'd like to see the DI V6 in this with a 6 speed auto.
