Blessings And Beatings - Changes
Welcome Our New Publisher David Kennedy!
My first day on the job, I was told, "The only thing that’s constant in publishing is change." Those words have rung true over the years as editors, photographers, sales staff, art department, and publishers have come and gone. With the longest tenure of the current Truckin staff, I've worked with five different publishers. A publisher makes sure we stay on budget from an advertising standpoint, is the direct contact for the advertisers, and they always have their iPhone close by for those last-second sales deals. It’s a stressful job, but over the last year and a half, we've had a good one in Jeff Dahlin.
A genuine truck guy, Jeff spends his scarce free time wrenchin’ on his long-travel–equipped Bronco 4x4. Coming to us knowing little about the staff and how we operate, he quickly and seamlessly integrated as the leader of our title. Helping make our 2012 redesign happen, he also stirred up new business, brought in more revenue, and created much-needed enthusiasm within our parent company. As is commonly the practice, the higher-ups saw his potential and moved him over to Hot Rod. Now he’s reunited with long-time Feature Editor Brandan Gillogly, and we’re sure the two will help infuse some life into that heralded title.
With that vacancy, it provided a perfect opportunity for another custom truck enthusiast to step in and make a name for himself. We’d like to welcome in David Kennedy as our new publisher. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s been the long-time Editor-in-Chief of Diesel Power magazine. Stepping away from the editorial side and into the sales side, David brings a wealth of truck knowledge, both OE and aftermarket, and he understands the daily duties an editor must undertake. Because of his passion and unique skill set, we’re positive that Truckin has a bright and profitable future ahead of it. Welcome to the team David! We hope to have as much fun and success as we had working with Jeff.
