Diesel Cruze Debuts
Chevrolet has finally taken the wraps off the companys new 14 Chevy Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel, the brands first diesel passenger car since the 86 Chevetteand the only domestic diesel-powered passenger car available. The Cruze uses a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 with an output of 148 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. However, a unique overboost feature allows torque output to climb to as much as 280 lb-ft for up to 10 seconds. A heavier-duty six-speed automatic will be the only transmission option. This is the cleanest diesel GM has ever produced, and its expected to help the Cruze reach 42 mpg on the highway and provide a range that exceeds 600 miles. The large DEF tank will last 10,000 miles between fill-ups, and a 2-year maintenance plan is included in the price of the car, which will start at $25,695, generously equipped.
This is the Deadliest Song You Can Drive To
Confused.com studied driving habits while listening to music and learned that when four men and four women drove 500 miles in the experiment while listening to music, things got scary. The first 250 miles were done without any songs, but the second half included the discovery that a female listening to hip hop was more aggressive on the road than any other driver, including accelerating and last-minute braking. Heavy metal took down a male driver. Classical equaled erratic driving. Fast beats can cause excitement and arousal that can lead people to concentrate more on the music than the road, said London University psychologist, Dr. Simon Moore. So, whats No. 1 on the websites list of top 10 dangerous driving songs? Hey Mama, by The Black Eyed Peas. Also avoid Johnny Cashs Get Rhythm and Paradise City by Guns N Roses.

Quote
"Torque is especially important to Americans. Flat-out top speed doesnt really count any more. So I cannot imagine that the advantages of a diesel in terms of both torque and fuel consumption will not find appeal with customers in the U.S."
-Ludwig Willisch, president of BMW of North America, to Reuters

Rumor of the Moment:
The Ford F-150, the 3.2L Power Stroke.
Is This the Next Ford F-Series?
Meet the Ford Atlas concept, which is a hybrid. No, not that kind; its a hybrid of thoughts. Thought 1: This is what a future truck from Ford might resemble. Thought 2: Its the future of tow rigs, having extreme function, such as many tie-down points that have been integrated into the cargo box, 110-volt outlets, lots of storage, hitch assist, a tailgate step and cargo cradle, and more. The big concept was to build a hauler that got great fuel economy. And yetthis exploration of the future was not given a diesel. Johnson Valley Remains Open to OHV
OHV access will remain intact at Johnson Valley, California (where King of the Hammers takes place, and the location of many awesome trails), thanks to the efforts of SEMA Action Network, Off-Road Business Association, and other active land-use groups. The U.S. Congress included a provision in the 13 Defense Authorization Act, requiring the nearby U.S. Marines to study alternative ways to share the land but not take ownership of it. The land had been controlled by the Bureau of Land Management, and the Marines had wanted to expand their base for training exercises.
