2013 Throwdown West Coast: Our Project Trucks
Project Novakane, the EcoBoost, and the Lightning
An empty runway begging for burnouts, timing equipment just waiting for action, autocross cones set up as far as the eye can see, a beautiful So Cal day, eight competitive truck owners ready to mash throttle pedal, and no Truckin project trucks? Hardly. If you think that Truckin would show up empty-handed at its own event, think again! Truckin without a performance truck would make as much sense as a professional big wave surfer at Pipeline without a surf board. In fact, Truckin showcased not only one truck, but three trucks.
Truckin brought out its 2013 Ford F-150 3.5L EcoBoost. This twin-turbo V6 puts out 415 hp and 474 lb-ft of torque, and man does it scream! Paint and body work was performed by LGE. Equipped with a Belltech 3/5 drop, Bravado wheels, Nitto tires, Baer big brakes, a Bullydog intake, Kook’s exhaust, and Paul’s High Performance throttle body, intercooler tube, and custom ECU tune, the EcoBoost proved to be a fun option for Throwdown. Future plans include a new hood, new grille, new headlights, new tonneau cover, an audio system, and more.
You may remember this Truckin project from many years ago. Now clad in gray paint, recall that this 1999 Ford Lightning used to wear a 2-tone white and orange paint job separated by barb wire pinstriping. This 5.4L Lightning has a 5.4L SVT supercharger, Hotchkis 3/5 lowering kit, Belltech 2-inch drop spindles, Belltech drop leaf brackets, Belltech notch, QA1 shocks, HRE wheels, Nitto tires, and Baer big brakes. Future plans include a polished Whipple blower, Acufab throttle body, Afco intercooler, an audio system, and a full interior rehab. It was nice to see this oldie make an appearance!
The satin black Project Novakane 2004 GMC Sierra made an appearance. Equipped with a GMPP LSX376 crate engine paired with a MagnaCharger TVS2300 supercharger, American Racing Headers long-tube headers, ATI Racking 8-rib pulley setup, LS7 throttle body, complete ARP bolt kit, and new sensors/OE parts from Summit Racing, and much much more, you can be sure that this is no ordinary Sierra. The engine dyno numbers came back at nearly 700 hp and over 550 lb-ft of torque.
