2014 Nissan Rogue Is 10 Millionth Smyrna-Made Vehicle

Production Milestone Is Part of Nissan's Longer-Term Manufacturing Goal

Oct 15, 2013
The new 2014 Nissan Rogue is starting to roll off the line in Smyrna, Tennessee, and one of the compact crossovers will be the 10 millionth vehicle produced by the plant since it opened in 1983. The outgoing Rogue, which will be sold into 2014 as the Rogue Select, is built in Kyushu, Japan. The Rogue currently is Nissan's second-best-selling model behind the Altima sedan. Bringing Rogue production to the U.S. is part of Nissan's strategic goal of producing 85 percent of the vehicles it sells in the United States in North America.
In addition to the Smyrna plant, which is the company's largest in North America, Nissan also has production facilities in Canton, Mississippi that build the Frontier, Titan, and Xterra, as well as the NV full-size vans, and two plants in Mexico in Cuernavaca and Aguascalientes. The Cuernavaca plant builds the NV200 van for North America.
The combined workforce of Smyrna totals more than 7000 employees. In addition to the Rogue and Altima, Smyrna also produces the Pathfinder seven-passenger crossover and related Infiniti QX60, and soon will start production of the Murano midsize crossover for North American sales.
