1/2-Ton Diesel
We've all been expecting a 1/2-ton diesel for a very long time, and Ram has finally released information about the '14 Ram 1500 with the 3.0L V-6 EcoDiesel engine that has a towing capacity rated at 9,200 pounds. Ram claims fuel efficiency of more than 25 mpg.

Wondering how hard it would be to install a set of Amp Research side steps? Check out the video on BlinkPhotoGalleries' YouTube channel, and you'll know exactly what's involved. Jay Berends brought our attention to his site, and we're impressed that he's doing it for no profit—he just wants to help people. They're good videos, too!

New Beginnings
Paul Buckley used to be pissed at us. You see, he built a really, really nice truck that we ran a super nice feature on. But his name wasn't mentioned anywhere. Ah, darn, we hate it when things like that happen. Maybe it wasn't on the tech sheet? Not sure, but anyway, Paul is now working as the head diesel tech at one of Maryland's most well-known shops. He's even working on a '55 F-100 diesel dragster! The shop, B&V Repair and Performance in Damascus, Maryland (bvrepair.net), is known for its work on street racers, but Paul is going to build up the diesel side. Can't wait to see the next project he comes up with.

Oh Where, Oh Where
Want to know where the readers of 8-Lug live? Here's a list of the Top 10 states (and provinces, since Canadians are such fervent readers of 8-Lug)—and it might surprise you a bit. Did anyone think Alberta, Canada would be Number 3 on the list? Well, we weren't surprised, as we get emails from Alberta all the time. Pennsylvania is in the Top 5. Really. So, where do you live? Send us a photo of your truck and represent your state!

"The National Petroleum Council, International Energy Agency, and ExxonMobil have all concluded that diesel will remain the predominant powertrain in heavy-duty applications and the predominant global transportation powertrain in the future. Much attention has been granted to emerging fuels, such as natural gas. However, these groups all conclude that natural gas will not be able to compete with the diesel given the inherent efficiency of the diesel engine and the energy density of diesel fuel. Natural gas and other emerging fuels may find a place as a niche fuel in certain heavy-duty applications such as refuse hauling."
— Allen Schaeffer, Diesel Technology Forum, in a letter to the Congressional Panel on 21st Century Freight Transportation
Zinio Subs
You might know by now (after 7 years of reading this), but you can't get a subscription to 8-Lug magazine. Well, that's partially correct. You can't have a paper version of the magazine delivered to your door, but you can get the magazine digitally through Zinio. You can read 8-Lug on your smartphone, iPad, computer, or any number of other devices that allow you to read things digitally. And it's a bargain, too! Check it out at zinio.com.

Thank You
Rudolph Foods is the world's largest manufacturer of pork rinds—and that means the company needs a lot of truck drivers to get them to the markets. This past summer, a 10-week campaign celebrated the spirit of the American truck driver. In the campaign, Rudolph Foods asked truck drivers what being a truck driver meant to them. See the results on Facebook.com/RudolphFoods.
