Everyone knows, or should know, that racing is dangerous. At more than 100 mph, a little bump can send a racer careening into the wall or even another racer. For Javier Hernandez of Anaheim, California, he learned this lesson the hard way. After spending a few weeks getting his 2004 Silverado just right, his first pass down the track at Irwindale ended quite abruptly. As he was about a third of the way down the track, something caused the Silverado’s suspension to unload. As soon as this happened, the torque of the engine pulled the truck right, into the wall. Luckily, like most true racers, it shouldn’t be too long before Javier has his truck back up and running in no time.
