New, Interesting and Fun Things About Heavy-Duty Work Trucks
Is It 2015 Already?
Ford showed off the '15 Super Duty trucks at the State Fair of Texas, and the buzz was all about the stronger F-450 and the revamped King Ranch edition. The new GT37 turbo is a single, larger 88mm compressor that includes a larger turbine size, increased surface area, and no wastegate, since it operates at lower peak pressures than the GT32 it replaces.
Half a Million
The 500,000th 6.7L Power Stroke V-8 turbodiesel was slipped into a new '14 Ford Super Duty F-350 recently. That's quite a milestone for Ford, as it likes to point out that Ford is the only manufacturer that makes its own engines entirely.
Beefed-Up '15 Chevys
Chevrolet and GMC have revealed the all-new '15 models of the Silverado and Sierra HD pickups, and the theme is strength and capability. But enhanced aerodynamics for improved efficiency and reduced wind noise were a close second. Better engine cooling under heavy loads is expected with enhanced airflow.
What do you eat while you drive? Insure.com did a survey (below), and the top results were candy bars and French fries. If the smell didn't linger, French fries would have won.

John Edwards sent us this photo of his work truck hoping we'd like it enough to run the photo. Well, obviously we did. The '06 GMC has an EFILive tune, MBRP exhaust, a 9-inch Cognito lift, Deaver springs, steering upgrades, 37-inch Nitto Trail Grapplers, BMF Novakane Stealth wheels, TrailReady bumpers, and a Retrax bedcover.
Clayton Borah asked, "Just wondering if there was a chance for my truck to make it into your magazine?" Well, of course, Clayton. "I have a Kodiak 4500 I use to haul cars for my business," he added. Hey, send a photo of that, too!
Michael P. Ress from Tulsa, Oklahoma, sent us this photo from a recent camping trip with his pickup. We're liking it.
