Finding 8-Lug
We’ve heard tales from rural readers about how hard it is for them to find copies of 8-Lug before they’re swiped off the newsstand. Well, if you’re really struggling to get it and want to be sure, there is a place you can turn to on the Internet to buy a hard copy of 8-Lug. Go to mymagstore.com and search for 8-Lug. Single copies are just $5.99. Don’t forget about our digital subs at Zinio.com, too. You can also get 8-Lug digitally on your iPad, Kindle, Nook, and through Google.

Slinging Dirt
Nathan Elsner, roommate of Landon Dale Prever, sent in this photo of Landon’s ’02 Chevy. Chip Keever took the photo of the 2500 HD Duramax. The 2-inch-lowered truck has EFILive tuning and rides on 22-inch tires. This photo was a big hit on our Facebook page. Have you liked our Facebook page yet? Power In Surveys
When J.D. Power and Associates proclaims a vehicle to be safe, or reliable, or problematic…people listen. It’s because the data that J.D. Power uses comes from actual owners of the vehicles in question. It might not seem like such a crazy idea now, but back in 1968 it was revolutionary. Automakers tended to hear the comments they wanted to hear and slapped themselves on the back for the designs they came up with.

But J.D. “Dave” Power III knew the manufacturers were being self-serving and not revealing the truth about the quality of their cars. His Initial Quality Study is eagerly anticipated every summer as buyers of new cars get to spout off about everything they love and hate about their new cars (within 90 days).
This book, Power, by Sarah Morgans and Bill Thorness, is an interesting read that takes us way back to the days of putting surveys together on the kitchen table and using the family to tabulate results. A lot of mileage has passed since then, and now J.D. Power and Associates is a very powerful company, many times forcing change in the industry as the voice of the customer.

Swing-Away Hitch
Montana Hitch is a brand-new hitch that was created to solve the hassles of towing (more specifically, when you are not towing) with a unique and easy-to-use design. This new hitch is currently available from Montana Hitch through direct distribution and local dealerships and will soon be available via major retailers. The hitch folds flush under the user’s vehicle safely in seconds with the simple push of a button. Diesel Quote?
“Diesel is no longer a dirty word, as modern ‘clean diesel’ engines are as clean, or cleaner, than their gasoline counterparts and, depending on the car, nearly match them for NVH and noise levels. Today's diesels exhibit none of the negative aspects of their predecessors, including smoke, noise, or smell. Because of the abundant amount of torque, diesels are fun to drive and suffer less of a fuel economy penalty when driven hard, as compared to a gas engine.”
— Diesel Power magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Sean P. Holman in an interview with the NY Daily News about diesel’s comeback in the U.S.
Growing In The U.S.
Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing, located in White, Georgia, broke ground recently for a 700,000-square-foot addition to its current 2,000,000-square-foot tire manufacturing plant. The warehouse portion of the facility will also be expanded by 323,000 square feet in order to accommodate the increasing demand for Toyo Tires and Nitto brand premium light truck and passenger car tires. Parent company,Toyo Tire & Rubber Company of Osaka, Japan is investing $371 million in the TNA expansion over the next four years. This investment will result in the creation of 650 new jobs in the state of Georgia. The state-of-the-art TNA manufacturing facility first broke ground in 2004 and features a proprietary automated production system called A.T.O.M. (Advanced Tire Operation Module). The first tire rolled off the line in early 2006, when the company employed a staff of 81 people. It has since undergone three expansion projects, more than doubling the size of the facility and now employing a staff of more than 1,000.
Walmart Show
They’re calling it Cars, Bikes and BBQ but expecting a lot of trucks to show up, too. Walmart’s corporate office is throwing its own car/truck show and party on May 10, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and 8-Lug HD Truck magazine plans to be there! If you’re anywhere near the Walmart Global People Center in Bentonville, Arkansas, this would be a good opportunity to get your truck’s picture in the magazine. Questions should be addressed to Nathan at 479-204-0518 or cmnhcar66@wal-mart.com.
