2015 Acura MDX Gets Modest Price Bump
$275 Across-the-Board Price Hike On Flagship SUV
As vehicle model years become increasingly arbitrary, with 2014 models debuting in April of the calendar year and other 2015 models coming out the same time, it's sometimes tough to keep up with which models are which year. In the case of the 2014 vs. 2015 Ford F-150, there's an obvious and noticeable difference between the models. But more commonly, the year-to-year changes on models are minimal, with often the only thing changing is the model year designation and, of course, the price. Such is the case with the 2015 Acura MDX. All-new for 2014, the brand's flagship SUV carries into 2015 unchanged, except for an across-the-board $275 price increase.
This means the entry-level front-wheel-drive MDX goes from $43,185 to $43,460, and the top-of-the-line MDX all-wheel drive with the Advance package is now $57,675. The 2014 marked the introduction of the third-generation of Acura's popular SUV, with an all-new lighter-weight platform and a new direct-injected 3.5-liter V-6 engine, a version of which is also used in the RLX luxury sedan and the upcoming TLX midsize sedan.
The third-gen MDX showed a significant improvement in fuel economy from its predecessor, going from 16 to 18 mpg city and 21 to 27 mpg highway for the all-wheel-drive model. The front-drive model, new for 2014, is better yet with a rating of 20 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.
